Positive Grid has just announced a firmware and app update for its Spark desktop amp. The Axe-Fx 3 is wayyyyyyyyyy better than Positive Grid BIAS. Not had much experience at all with the company in the way of guitar but I use Sampletank all the time. Actually been doing way more keyboarding, mostly with my Minilab and iPad(Tabletop, Sampletank, iMini, and iMS-20).Īnyway I am very interested in the IKM A4 as well but from what I can tell you get a very limited pallet at first then it's a la carte from there.
So I'll not be gigging anytime soon and home/computer based sound generation is my main focus at this point.

Something like Guitar Rig 5, as much as I enjoyed it at the time, is older & more expensive.Īnyway, I'm glad you did this review because there's been a lot of hype surrounding it. It's not that I wasn't able to get some good sounds out of it, but that general sound & feel ended up being a hindrance, especially when I compared it to other amp sims (although I'm not too sure if any other current amp sim packages offer as many amps & fx for that price (Audio Assault is coming out with a new amp sim called ReAmp, and it will be even more amps at a lower price, but it's not out yet - it's called ReAmp).

I'm not sure if it's the same issue you're having (I would have to test it out again to figure out what's actually going on with the sound), but in the end, it resulted in that early Line 6 digitally processed sound/feel. Bias Professional for Desktop was the first Positive Grid software to get the Amp Match feature, and the company describes the process as follows, 'Amp Match accurately captures the tone of any tube amplifier by analyzing and compare a currently designed BIAS amp model with the sound of a real micd amp or file source. Thanks for the review/comparison! I had a similar issue with the Positive Grid amp/fx/pedal plugins, where it sounded like there was this heavy compression on, all the time.
